My own Words-Election 08

I am not really into politics,I had witnessed when Gorge W. Bush won last 2004 election and to me it was just an ordinary day.We didn't watched it with anticipation or eagerness.Who ever will win at that time,it was fine with us. But this time it is very different, yes we all know that it is a historical one,the candidates were totally opposite but after a grueling and tiring campaign they came to an end and the people of United States of America had spoken,it is time for a change,a new blood to lead the country and not to mention the first president ever who is not white,a president who American-African in short a Black man will lead our counrty. I shed tears when he was giving his speech,it touched my heart when he said that the change has arrive, that true meaning of victory belong to the people, not to him.He said also that,he wants America the place will everyone can make,if they will try.For me,it is a new hope. I love John McCain as well,he is the guy who gave his entire life to serve his country, his experiences aND record will attest you that,he is a true Maverick,a guy who will give up his own life for his country. When he conceded last night,my heart felt him, especially when he said that he came short, and he had his own share of mistakes while he was in the office, that he is the one who fail, not the people who supported him. he added,he won't spend his days regretting what might have been if he did something different. The journey for the new president is yet to begin,it is still a wait and see situation,a long, difficult jouney to take, but if we will behind his back,I believe that we can make a difference,a change, and a better America will soar high.America is beautiful and may God bless America!!!

LAsik Eye Surgery

Yesterday Migs had his Lasik eye surgery, before he left he told me that he is really excited to get rid of his eye glasses. He is been wearing his genius looking eyeglasses when he was 9 yrs old and now he is 21,a young man with a 10 yr old heart.I mean he is such a good and a very fine young man. when he arrived from the surgery,I can't help but giggle because he looked like a big tumble bee with his huge goggles,he can barely see and after 2 hrs he was in excruciating pain.He asked me for his pain medicine but it didn't help,so I called up his dad to prescribed higher dose,he was screaming and said he regrets the procedure.I feel sorry for him cause he had so many eyedrops every 15 mins or so,and if he scratches his eyes he might get blind totally. What really caught my attention is the goggles,he looks like Kanye West, while I am typing this,i can't help but smile, sorry Migs, don't mean to but it looks funny to me. Anyway LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis and is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea, the clear covering of the front of the eye, using an excimer laser. A mechanical microkeratome (a blade device) or a laser keratome (a laser device) is used to cut a flap in the cornea. A hinge is left at one end of this flap. The flap is folded back revealing the stroma, the middlesection of the cornea. Pulses from a computer-controlled laser vaporize a portion of the stroma and the flap is replaced. There are other techniques and many new terms related to LASIK that you may hear about. This morning he took off the funny goggles and told me that he feels much better and can tolerate the light compare yesterday.I said that's how it is little boy,No pain,No gain.

We might be strangers but it doesn't mean we just pass this opportunity to ask someone how they feel today,it is a simple gesture but I am sure it will light up someones day...might be.

it is getting cOLd

I can't believed how fast the days past by,it seems like yesterday we were in the pool enjoying the summer and the warm feeling that it gave,I woke up this morning and boy,it was cold.I thought that our A/C was on but when I checked it was off. What I really hate about it is that it will give me a severe occassional allergies again=(,eventhough I am taking my allergy med regularly still it am not prepared to have one again.I hate the feeling of sneezing out of nowhere and it seems that something is tickling my nose, and the runny nose ohhh...unbearable. I don't like the idea of being fully covered again and wearing tons of layers of apparels,it feels uncomfortable plus I have to wear those thermal pants and longsleesves again. What I hate the most is the snow,at first I do love them but the longer I stayed here in Ky,don't appreciate it anymore,it is hard for me to put my dogs out especially the small ones. I heard from my co-worker that maybe this winter is worst than last year.Meaning more snows, more shoveling and less fun....I can't wait to be summer again...where the sun shine brightly on me.

the women

This week-end we decided to go out I and Tita with the family,we went to O'Charley coz Kat requested it then we went to borders I got some books, and oh... I bought a cookbook for someone I know that will celebrate her birthday soon as a gift so she can cook yummy and easy foods. Today we went to watched a movie entitled "The Women"the story is not that great but I enjoyed it,and you can relate to it,it is about marriage, divorce, betrayal coz the husband feels lonely,a gay friend and a high-profile bestfriend....a good-feel movie that every girlfriends should watch,,,well...it can't be compare to Sex in the City coz this one has no kissing scene,no bulgar words and the fashion is not that really great. But what really caught my attention is not about the movie, but Meg Ryan itself..what happened to her face? She was one of the most beautiful women i have seen but I can't find any beauty in her,she looks like JOKER...I am not kidding....but still...i do like her as an actress=).

Aghhhh!!!!

Due to the hurricane in Tx the price of gas will soar up from $3.something to 5$ today. My gosh, what will happen to us here?I dont know if the other states are affected with the price increase but I won't take any chances,I filled up my car and maybe stay home after work..there is no use in roaming around when the economy is in bad shape and especially if the gas price is way too much. Just a thought though=) but I hope that hurricane Ike won't cause so much damage like what hurricane Katrina did.

Enlighten

I deleted my previous entry about the effect of what I saw in television yesterday,i am such a whiny=)well....I am still scared that it might happen to me but I know i won't let anyone hurt me physically.I said that I wont get married at all..I take it back....Only time and it is in His hands,it is not under my control.I am not really looking forward that it will happen soon. I know the chances is like 1 in a million and possibly it will not be me to have that chances,Aunt Jing told me that life itself is already scary and no matter how careful we are sometimes hardhip and trial will come in every relationship. If I stumble all I have to do is to get up slowly no matter how difficult it might be.Vey well said Aunt Jing..Love you so much!!! So let the fun begin again=)

When?

I was talking with my aunt Jing this morning regarding everything, everything under the sun,we never really had a chance to talk personally before i left Zamboanga City, usually our topic are so limited, from how are you?hows work and you takecare over there and we miss you, until recently, she started talking to me as my friend not just an aunt of mine. She asked me how is my lovelife?if i am seeing or dating someone, even to sexual topic we talked about it now.It made me feel so happy and comfortable telling her about my daily activities here,my frustrations is life and everything. Out of nowhere in our conversation she asked me if i have any plan of settling down,i was shocked and got no answer at all..i mumbled something that makes her asked"what did you say?"Then i told her i am not yet ready, and again she emphasized when will i be ready...and that question linger in my mind until this very moment. Me too,i wonder...when will I be ready? How do I know anyway that I am ready?

A Korean Student and His Point of View about the Philippines

As you know, we have plenty of Koreans currently studying in the Philippines to take advantage of our cheaper tuition fees and learn English at the same time. This is an essay written by a Korean student that I want to share with you.
My Short Essay about the Philippines
Jaeyoun Kim
Filipinos always complain about the corruption in the Philippines. Do you really think the corruption is the problem of the Philippines? I do not think so. I strongly believe that the problem is the lack of love for the Philippines.
Let me first talk about my country, Korea. It might help you understand my point. After the Korean War, South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world. Koreans had to start from scratch because entire country was destroyed completely after the Korean War, and we had no natural resources.
Koreans used to talk about the Philippines, for Filipinos were very rich in Asia. We envy Filipinos. Koreans really wanted to be well off like Filipinos. Many Koreans died of famine. My father's brother also died because of famine.
Korean government was awfully corrupt and is still very corrupt beyond your imagination, but Korea was able to develop dramatically because Koreans really did their best for the common good with their heart burning with patriotism. Koreans did not work just for themselves but also for their neighborhood and country. Education inspired young men with the spirit of patriotism. 40 years ago, President Park took over the government to reform Korea. He tried to borrow money from other countries, but it was not possible to get a loan and attract a foreign investment because the economy situation of South Korea was so bad. Korea had only three factories.
So, President Park sent many mine workers and nurses to Germany so that they could send money to Korea to build a factory. They had to go through a horrible experience. In 1964, President Park visited Germany to borrow money. Hundred of Koreans in Germany came to the airport to welcome him and cried there as they saw the President Park. They asked to him, "President, when can we be well off?" That was the only question everyone asked to him. President Park cried with them and promised them that Korea would be well off if everyone works hard for Korea, and the President of Germany got the strong impression on them and lent money to Korea. So, President Park was able to build many factories in Korea. He always asked Koreans to love their country from their heart. Many Korean scientists and engineers in the USA came back to Korea to help developing country because they wanted their country to be well off.
Though they received very small salary, they did their best for Korea. They always hoped that their children would live in well off country.
My parents always brought me to the places where poor and physically handicapped people live. They wanted me to understand their life and help them. I also worked for Catholic Church when I was in the army. The only thing I learned from Catholic Church was that we have to love our neighborhood. And I have loved my neighborhood.
Have you cried for the Philippines? I have cried for my country several times. I also cried for the Philippines because of so many poor people. I have been to the New Bilibid prison. What made me sad in the prison were the prisoners who do not have any love for their country. They go to mass and work for Church. They pray everyday. However, they do not love the Philippines. I talked to two prisoners at the maximum security compound, and both of them said that they would leave the Philippines right after they are released from the prison. They said that they would start a new life in other countries and never come back to the Philippines. Many Koreans have a great love for Korea so that we were able to share our wealth with our neighborhood. The owners of factory and company were distributed their profit to their employees fairly so that employees could buy what they needed and saved money for the future and their children.
When I was in Korea, I had a very strong faith and wanted to be a priest. However, when I came to the Philippines, I completely lost my faith. I was very confused when I saw many unbelievable situations in the Philippines. Street kids always make me sad, and I see them everyday.
The Philippines is the only Catholic country in Asia, but there are too many poor people here. People go to church every Sunday to pray, but nothing has been changed. My parents came to the Philippines last week and saw this situation. They told me that Korea was much poorer than the present Philippines when they were young. They are so sorry that there so many beggars and street kids. When we went to Pasangjan, I forced my parents to take a boat because it would fun. However, they were not happy after taking a boat. They said that they would not take the boat again because they were sympathized the boat men, for the boat men were very poor and had a small frame. Most of people just took a boat and enjoyed it. But my parents did not enjoy it because of love for them.
My mother who has been working for Catholic Church since I was very young told me that if we just go to mass without changing ourselves, we are not Catholic indeed. Faith should come with action. She added that I have to love Filipinos and do good things for them because all of us are same and have received a great love from God.
I want Filipinos to love their neighborhood and country as much as they love God so that the Philippines will be well off. I am sure that love is the keyword which Filipinos should remember. We cannot change the sinful structure at once. It should start from person. Love must start in everybody in a small scale and have to grow. A lot of things happen if we open up to love. Let's put away our prejudices and look at our worries with our new eyes. I discover that every person is worthy to be loved. Trust in love, because it makes changes possible. Love changes you and me. It changes people, contexts and relationships. It changes the world.
Please love your neighborhood and country. Jesus Christ said that whatever we do to others we do to Him. In the Philippines, there is God for people who are abused and abandoned. There is God who is crying for love. If you have a child, teach them how to love the Philippines. Teach them why they have to love their neighborhood and country.
You already know that God also will be very happy if you love others. That's all I really want to ask you Filipinos.
Is the Philippines worth crying for? Who will shed tears for the Motherland? Who will lend a hand to lift her spirit, to hold the lonely Flag that symbolize her name?
Postscript:
I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country. A man’s country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers, and woods, but it is a principle; and patriotism is loyalty to that principle. Love of country is like love of woman – he loves her best who seeks to bestow on her the highest good. A man’s feet must be planted in his country, but his eyes should survey the world.

U.S Open

Today is the beginning of U.S. Open,I am wondering who will be the winner this year,I wonder if Federer will claim once again the title after so many disappointed matched, except he won the gold medal in double last Beijing Olympic,or Rafael Nadal can protect his new Number 1 status?but wait,Novak Djokovic is waiting for his 2nd grandslam as well. Honestly,i want Rafael Nadal to win this time,he has to prove himself that he can play in any court, not only in clay or in grass but in hardcourt as well.He won the single gold medal in the Olympic so I guess it is a good start for him. To those who loves tennis like me,let us witness once again the excitement that this game will bring to us.Since it is U.S. Open,i hope any american will reach the final.

Olympic

Last night i watched the closing ceremony of Beijing Olympics,it was indeed a great way to end, great performances that tough to top with. What really amuses me were the delegates,we all know that we have our differences but it was so nice to see that every country were smilling to each other, hugging, having a blast,,celebrate he great event they had just witnessed and set aside whatever conflict we are facing.
Just like after every game, there is winner and loser but at the end of the game,a smile,a shakehands,a pat in the shoulder or back is rendered and saying "job will done guys and goodluck or congratulations",then move on after that without bitterness knowing they give all their best .I believe that there is no better way to settle any problem but by talking amicably and just try to listen what other is saying with open heart and full knowlde and understanding..I know it is easier said than Done.
