He is Home at Last...Iggy.

We already had 4 dogs and I know it is too much no matter how much you love them.A month ago,our dog groomer told us that she has another puppy that is available and she gonna give it to us in a special price,it was cheap but my main concern was we have four dogs already and it is hard to take care of them, aside from the expenses,it is just too ,much work.
3 weeks ago the groomer said that she will just goin to give it to me,the puppy as Valentines gift,I was speechless cause I was in mixed emotion, happy yet confused.I told aunt about and she said that it is not nice to refuse a gift especially if it has life and feelings. We talked about and Miggy said it is fine with him as long as Iggy will sleep with him during the night and all of us agreed.
After a long wait,at last he is with us,the happiness that you feel and the smile that you see in Kat and Miggys face are priceless,we have to shoulder his vaccination and registered him so he will legally ours.I am very pleased that Iggy found a family with us.

My "Pansit"Guisado

I have been craving for Pansit guisado,my moms version. My biggest problem was,we don't have the noodles that we used way back home.My craving was killing me,I really wanted to eat it.One night Hazie and I talked about what food we missed from our hometown,of course the pancit from Savoury, one of the local restaurant in Zamboanga City surfed-in in our conversation.Literally,I can taste their pansit and I was mad at myself cause I can get it out of my head. Today,I saw a pork meat in our freezer,my imagination works,so what if I don't have the fresh noodles,as long as I have something to substitute for it,all well be fine, since it is taste that really matters and we'll satisy my craving and growling tummy at the same time. Now I can smile and craving is gone.I really like the taste though the noodles is not as good as what we have in the PI. Still,I am so grateful and happy that I know if you are just willing to explore in cooking, nothing really is impossible, anyway,I used fettucini noodles,I boiled it like what it says in the instruction.I will be cooking this again.....

What a waste..

Yesterday I cleaned up our pantry to see some expired things that need to be disposed,to my surprise,I found so many canned goods and drinks that had been there in the shelf since we moved here like almost 5 years ago, deep in my heart I feel bad cause it was alot and it will just go to the trash.
Growing up in the PI,we seldom have so much, most of the time,we only had what is enough for a certain period and now here,I have to throw it away.I found lots of chips, cookies, chocolates and some canned and bottled sodas. All in all i gathered 3 black trash bags of food that to be thrown away.I told aunt to buy little by little from now on cause life is harder now adays,we don't want a single penny to be wasted anymore.
Our pantry is ni longer crowded and it is all up to date and ready to be consumed.Hopefully we can keep this up.Crossing my fingers here.

It is just an Ordinary Day..

20 minutes from it is gonna be Feb.15,and Valentines Day is over.My friends asked me yesterday what will I do,as usual my reply was,"stay at home and clean up my room",with a smile of course not to show that I was annoyed with thier constant question about this day. Today,I got a box of chocolate fr0m a friend, thank you for that.Since I am not a choco lover person I gave it away to Makayla, the daughter of my co-worker.Bossing asked me if I wanted a boquet of flowers and I said No,and told him to treat us to dinner instead,we went to Missy's and as expected,it was full, glad that we made our reservation earlier. Tita D. and I had our week-end ritual, our movie marathon, this time we watched our favorite love stories.I love" Memoir of a Geisha "and she cried over and over again with" Message in a Bottle",You see I survived another Valentines Day dateless and it wasn't bad at all. How about you?how is your Valentines Day?

You Are Cute-Sexy!
You are definitely attractive, and you have an interesting mix of sexiness and cuteness.
You are both hot and quirky. Gorgeous and silly. Charming and natural.

You are not so in-your-face sexy that you're unapproachable. You tone things down a bit.
More than anything else, you are real and genuine. And that makes you truly captivating.

In times for Valentines Day

It is really funny how fate do tricks to us,it is thrilling at the same time confusing.I was talking with my former classmate in elementary when she mentioned to me that one of my long time crushes is in Canada and asked about me.Of course i can't help but smile, for me he was the best good looking guy in town,c'mon,I was only 12 yrs old when I said that.
Last night,my phone rang and it was an unknown caller, usually I don't answer my phone when I don't know who is calling me,but my phone won't stop from ringing so I picked it up and answered it.I can't really figure out who was on the other line,it was like 17 years ago since I saw and heard that voice and now he is all grown up and with very manly voice,so I asked who was on the other line when he said his name,my jaw dropped, literally(grinning).

My best friend gave out my number to him with out my approval, well,it was a good thing i guess(Laughing),we talked for an hour and we decided to chat tru MSN,after those years,I saw his face again but i take back what I said,he is still good looking but not the best in town anymore.I am glad I am single or else I will not have any loop about him.And for the record: HE is Still Single.(wink).

Chicken Leg Adobo

Adobo is one of my favorite Filipino dish,it can be pork, chicken, beef,or fish.Last night I made some chicken tinola and there were like 12 pcs of chicken legs left so I decided to make some adobo.I cooked it with a little bit of changes,i made the sauce thick and I browned all the sides of the chicken legs for a change.
I know that most of us Filipinos knows how to cook this kind of food,I would be surprise if someone will say that he/she doesn't know how=).Unless that person have no interest in cooking at all.So here is my Chicken Adobo.I had sauteed spinach as my side dish.Yuuuum!!!!and of course, with the thick sauce, you can eat it either with hot rice or mashed potato.

Here is the Procedure:

12 pcs of chicken legs

5 cloves of garlic,minced

1 medium onion sliced like ring

1/2 cup of soysauce

1/4 apple cider vinegar

3-tbsp olive oil

2-tbsp of brown sugar

pinch of salt and pepper

1/2 cup water

2tsps of cornstarch+1/8 cup of water(dissolved)

few drops of hot chili oil(optional)

Procedure:

  • Heat oil in a wok, brown all sides of the chicken .Removed and set aside.
  • Saute the garlic til it fragrant.
  • put back the chicken and simmer over medium heat for like 5 mins.
  • Add the water,soysauce and vinegar,simmer but don't stir.Remove the scum.
  • When it is boiling, add the brown sugar and taste. If you want to adjust the taste then season it according to your taste.
  • continue simmer until the chicken is cook.Add the cornstarch, bring to boil til it thickens.
  • Add the onion rings and cover the wok but turn-off the heat.
  • Since I like mine with a kick,I put few drops of hot chili oil.It is optional anyway.

The New King

By Alix Ramsay
Rafael Nadal accepted his Australian Open trophy from the legendary Rod Laver on Sunday night – and is well on the way to becoming a giant of the game himself. He won the Australian Open, becoming the first Spaniard to do so. He joined an elite group of just 12 men who have managed to win three Grand Slam titles on three different surfaces since the Open Era began.
He took his tally of major titles to six and his record of Grand Slam final appearances to eight – and all of that achieved in just 20 visits to the four major championships. In the Open Era, only Bjorn Borg has been more clinical in collecting the important trophies (he won six Grand Slam titles in only 18 attempts).
But all this was as nothing compared to Rafael Nadal's most startling achievement of the evening. He made his friend cry. He did not mean to do it and he wasn't quite sure what to do when it happened, but the new Australian Open champion had broken Roger Federer's heart. Nadal had somehow conjured up the heart and the physical puff to go toe to toe with Federer for four hours and 23 minutes and then, with the clock standing at 12.14am, Nadal won 7-5 3-6 7-6(3) 3-6 6-2 and was crowned as the new king of Melbourne Park.
How he had managed to do it was beyond anyone's comprehension. Less than 48 hours earlier, he had staggered off court at well after 1am at the end of a five hour 14 minute epic with Fernando Verdasco. At the very same time, Federer had been sound asleep after getting an extra day off. Yet here was Nadal again, winning the battle of the muscles, the tactics and, most crucially of all, the nerves to beat Federer again, his 13th victory in 19 meetings and his fifth victory over the Swiss in seven meetings in Grand Slam finals.

To be fair to Nadal, it was not entirely his fault that Federer burst into tears during the presentation ceremony. This year is the 40th anniversary of Rod Laver's second Grand Slam, and the ‘Rockhampton Rocket’ was at Melbourne Park to present the prizes. Standing alongside the great man were the four men he beat in the four major finals that year – Andreas Gimeno, Ken Rosewall, John Newcombe and Tony Roche. A bigger collection of legends you could not hope to find late on a Sunday night, and the fact that Federer wanted so dearly to be one of them, to win that magical 14th Grand Slam title and match Pete Sampras' record, was his emotional undoing. But as Federer sobbed and gulped and tried to control himself, 15,000 spectators stood and applauded. It was 15,001, to be precise, as Nadal joined in with the ovation and bit his lip nervously. When his moment came to step forward to the podium, he looked almost sheepish. Federer patted him on the shoulder as he passed and Nadal, in turn, took the trophy quietly, held it aloft very briefly, and then went to put his arm around his pal and console him. "I'm sorry for today," he said to Federer as he accepted his AUD$2 million winner's cheque. "I really know how you feel. But remember – you are one of the best players of the history and you are going to improve the 14 of Sampras. It is always a pleasure to play you and best of luck for the rest of the year." Such kindness from his conqueror almost set Federer off again, but as his lower lip quivered, the significance of the evening's events began to sink in. Federer will need all the luck he can get if he is to get to grips with the challenge of Nadal. On paper, this was one of the best chances Federer would have to beat Nadal – the Spaniard ought to have been tired, he ought to have been on the back foot on the hardcourt surface, and he ought to have been tense in his first Australian Open final. But there was not a bit of it.

If Federer had hoped that Nadal's tank would run dry after such an energy-sapping semifinal, he was to be sorely disappointed – the Spaniard can run on fumes if necessary, and the thought of a fifth set appeared to hold no fears for him. As for his nerves, they are armour-plated, while his mind is reinforced with steel. It was Federer who was overcome by the enormity of the moment while Nadal simply put his head down and forced his way to the finish.

When Nadal first started chasing Federer around the Grand Slam circuit, the Swiss was happy to concede the French Open to his young rival. But in the past three years, Nadal has proved himself to be the unstoppable force on clay, on grass and now on a hardcourt. Federer has nowhere left to hide.
"To have the trophy presented to me by a legend like Rod Laver is a dream for me," Nadal said. The legends had come to see Federer become one of their number but, instead, they stayed to applaud Nadal. With only the US Open left to conquer, it will not be long before Nadal becomes a legend himself. And that really will make Federer cry.

creamcheese-purple yam pound cake

I was wondering what to do with our purple yam, some were rotten already and i saved like 4 small pieces.I can't find any recipe that will match what I wanted so out of desperation,I got a pack of cream cheese then mashed the yam. From there,I just let my hand do the work and whatever comes first in my mind to put next then that it is. The outer part was a little bit crunchy but surprisingly the inside is moist and soft, actually it really taste good with coffee. At first,I thought it was a total disaster but when it totally cool-down,the natural sweetness of yam and everything in there came out.It taste really delicious inside the mouth. I love it with coffee in the morning and for snack as well...I just hope that I can improve the outer texture, maybe I put too much purple yam and little flour and not enough butter.Maybe next time,I will correct that mistake.

The First Spaniard to win the Australian Open

I never really thought that Rafael Nadal will win today's match in Men's championship in Australian Open,he had very physical match last Friday with his country man Fernando Verdasco and that will give Roger Federer an edge to win and tie with the all-time number one Pete Sampras having a 14 Grand-slam title.
But today Rafa, showed to the world especially to his constituents that he is the real deal,he is not just the "King of Roland Garros" in French open, not just the new owner of Green court in Wimbledon but he can win in hard court as well.In fact this is his first time to reached in final and actually win the title.
He really played well when he needs it and step-up to the expectation. He defeated the number 2 in the world and his greatest rival in tennis Roger Federer in 5 set.It was an emotional defeat for Roger,he wasn't able to hold back his tears and hide his frustrations anymore. He cried in front of the crowd and speechless and left the court ahead of Rafael Nadal.
In Rafael Nadal's acceptance speech he apologized to his rival for what had happened and should always remember that he is one of the great player of all time,ahhh..what a guy, that is the very reason why I am rooting for Rafael Nadal,he is such a humble guy.Congrats Rafa!!!!See yah in May 24th for your 5th French Open title.
