Our Lunch(Tortang Alimango)
Aunt ordered some crabs from Maryland and we didn't finish it all,she told me if nobody wanted to eat it I can throw it away cause it makes the house smells,as I was staring at it,I feel bad just to put it in the trash can so I decided to remove the meat and made it into crab pattie.
It was a tough job cause it is hard to remove all the meat in that regular size crab plus I wasn't even sure if Ican gather enough meat to make a tortang alimango(crab pattie). So with patience,i took one by one until everyhting is done,I was able to make 8 patties out of it and that was our lunch today.Just made a thousand island sauce for dipping.

I made it at Last;)
I have been thinking to make some Jelly Roll since I saw the recipe from kusina ni Manang,my problem was,I have no idea how stiff the eggwhite should be,though the procedure is easy I am reluctant to do it.So i took a deep breath and I said I will do it,if it is a failure then I can do it better next time.
But to my surprise,it came out perfectly,my loyal taster Kat was there waiting and eager to have a slice, when she saw me rolling the Pianono she asked me right away, can I have a bite?of course she can.So there, she got a small plate and a fork and ran back to the living room were she was doing her homework.

Spanish Bread....
I always thought that baking is a complicated thing to do,from beating and making the dough and kneading and of course you have to wait when the dough will rise, but as I patiently practising during my free time I found a sense of happiness and fulfillment everytime I see my hardwork.
The greatest thing about baking is when Kat compliment about it or criticized the taste. She really loves the bread with purple yam inside and the ensaymada with lots of melted butter and sugar as a topping. When she tried the Spanish bread yesterday, all she did was humming, that is an indication that she really likes what she put in her mouth. She even told me that we will put up our bakeshop if we will win in the lottery.Silly young girl.

Addicted
Everyone in the house had been teasing me lately that I am addicted to baking,I didn't really notice that until yesterday when Bossing asked me what I am doing with the butter and flour bread, without thinking I replied "i will bake pandesal and will try to make some spanish bread as well",he laughed hard and said,"naku adik na si Wena sa baking".With that remarked,I myself was suprise, indeed I become addicted to baking lately since I got the kitchen aide from aunt.
Honestly,I can't wait what to bake this coming few days,of course,I am still in the trial and error period but I can say that I made successful batches of pandesal, pan de leche and some cheese bread, last night my spanish bread came out pretty good and we ate it this morning as our breakfast.
Most of my free time lately I spend in the kitchen and reading some gourmet books of aunt,I am having fun especially if it came really good,if it is a failure the dogs is like having a feast,=)I can't wait for my next baking adventure,I will be making Pianono....my favorite merienda when I was still in the PI.Thank God found this great blogsite of a filipina doctor, who baked and cooked really, really good.
For my lunch today,I made some fried rice with sauteed shrimp paste and pork with fats,I was so full that I was having hard time breathing. It is good to eat food that you thought you will never taste again because you are in different country but honestly,it is just around the corner and it is up to you to find it.

Simple Celebration of New Years eve
Since the people here were not in the spirit of celebrating the coming of 2009,I and Kat spend the whole night waited for the countdown, greeted each other happy new year, she hugged me and it was enough for me to forget all the drama that surround us that day.
I just prepared a little bit,I made Sio Pao Guisado, some eggrolls, fettucine from our lunch, macaroni chicken salad and we had some Pepsi cake from a good friend of ours Ms. Judy G.
>
Kat and I enjoyed our food and we were laughing for she said we have to be happy coz it is 2009.I agree with her....I drank a glass of baileys irish cream and a bottle of beer called Dundee,it is with honey.I made some churros too before we called it a night. We went to bed stuffed and I went to bed around 5 am,to sum it up,it was a good celebration for me with Kat and the dogs=)

first day of 2009
How was your new years eve?Mine was full of drama, you might wonder why?My aunt and her hubby had a huge fight over I don't know, all I know that I was awaken by the loud voice of aunt,I wanted to go out but I don't wanna interrupt whatever they are discussing at that time. The whole day of of Dec.31st was like a torture to me,we usually have games and cook some food for us to munch, but this one is different,we have no food at all.I decided to baked some fettucini since the tuna in can is the only thing I can used, everything is frozen. We planned to make some pigs in a blanket but since no one is the mood to eat I didn't make it. I stayed most of the time in my room and aunt imprisoned herself in their room as well,I don't know what she did,I didn't bother to asked if she wants something.I feel sad for what happen.I thought why they have to choose to argue in the last day of the year? Why not tomorrow=). Kat and I watched the countdown and greeted each other happy new year.I made some churros and hot choco for us to eat,I jsut ordered pizza for dinner.Until now they are not talking still but I am glad that aunt made some spaghetti for our lunch but still she is incognito. Well,I don't wanna drown myself with the thought that we started the new year with a bad luck,I welcomed 2009 with optisim and I was happy enough spending time with Kat wondering as well what is goin on with her parents,I told her they are old already and they well resoved whatever arguments they had and before we knew it,they are back to normal again. Have a Blessed day everyone.
